Time to Archive Those Large Format Drawings â Offsite Storage or Digital Imaging?

As with standard and legal sized paper documents there are two document archiving options: scanning in to a digital format or offsite storage of the files. Depending on the future use of the documents leads to the conclusion of how best to archive them.

Digital archiving lends itself well to easy retrieval and the best results for presentations and vector overlay (more on this below). Offsite storage allows you access to the physical document while opening up valuable office space.
Having spent many years as a CAD designer I can tell you it is SO much easier to work with a digital image of an archive drawing than it is to measure off of a physical mylar drawing. Now that all CAD programs have a digital to vector conversion process available I would tend to strongly recommend the scanning option.

As stated above, offsite storage for large format drawings allows you the option to always get the physical file. In some cases it is extremely helpful to have the physical file available even if you have a scanned image. In my experience converting a digital file to vector in CAD you still need at least one area of the drawing that you can 'pin' the image to its exact measurements. Once the digital image has been adjusted back to actual scale the rastering process can begin.

Today's scanning technology has made the scanning archive solution much more viable. These days the pixel quality is high to allow you to be able to even read the design notes on a drawing, no more guessing what that glob of fragmented pixels said at one point.

Archiving engineering drawings, aerial maps and even old plats allows you to add more depth to a project to show previous data below the new proposed project. Since most people are visual, this technology has helped even small engineering companies get the leg up on competition with better proposal drawings.

Graphic artists and marketing companies can also benefit from converting their old projects that are now posters rolled up in the corner or a back room. Those ideas can be accessed quickly and easily when they are converted in to high quality digital format to be brought up on a large screen during a presentation or brainstorming. Each document will be indexed using multiple different keywords that will make retrieving a poster a snap.

No matter what your large format documents are for there is an option to keep the integrity and longevity of each file for when the day comes you need it again. The hardest part sometimes is deciding which archival option is best for you, looking forward to the potential use of the files.

Getting Started Playing Slot Games at an Online Casino

A – Find the online casino right for you
B - Register and set up an account at the online casino
C – Make a deposit for the first time
D – Get to know your slot games

It is not hard to find online casinos. Punch in a few key words in Goggle and you will be flooded with them. They all have stupendous self critiques. Better to find a few casino gambling Web Portal sites first. These are web sites that promote casinos online. Get to know a few of these portals. They will be giving specific data about the casino sights you will be interested in. This info will be covering things such as reputation of the casino, the type of sot machine games available, the software provider, deposit methods of their recommended casinos. And weather it is a Mac compatible casino or only functions with PC type computers. Mac compatible slot games are no download systems working directly from your browser. The common name for them is Flash casinos. When you find a web portal that seams to talk your language then follow one of their link to a casino and register.

Registering at an online casino is not difficult. You will be asked to fill out a registration form asking for specific personal information. Normally this information will be User Name, Password, Email Address, First name, Family name, local address (street, zip, city, country), date of birth, sex, phone number and who referred you to their casino. Because of bonus giveaways they ask you to only have one account at a time. Otherwise they are concerned about giving the same welcome bonus away to the same person.

Depositing money for the first time is probably the most important step. Click on the appropriate tab referring to account deposits and view the options the casino has for deposits. There will be three main categories, Credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard, internet accounts such as Neteller and Moneybookers and cash transactions such as checks and wire transfers. How you deposit is always a personal choice. The best way is with an internet based account such as Neteller. Obviously you will need to have an account with Neteller prior to depositing at a casino. To become a full fledged member of the online community joining Neteller is a must. So you should have a Neteller account or something like it anyway.

The best part about starting your play is getting to know the slot games. Gambling is a risky business, so try a few games out before you play for real money. Most casinos offer a Play for Fun mode. If they do not a penny a spin will not hurt you. Get accustomed to the workings of the slot game functions. Try out the volume, bet level, coin value and auto spin controls. You can increase your wager amounts as you feel you are ready.

Keep the address of the web portal you joined up through. For what ever reason you have a question or need help with the casino, the web master at the portal site should help you through it. They should be your friend on your side of the fence not the casinos. Use them as a go between if you feel you need one. They carry weight with the casinos since they have brought many customers to the casino.

Similarities and Differences Online Interactive Slot Machine Games

So what have these many varieties of slot machine games have in common with one another? All of them have what they call an interactive BONUS FEATURE. The bonus feature is the interactive implant of additional gaming into and between the normal spin mode. These embedded games come in a cornucopia of themes and types but most of them are activated by matching up 3 bonus symbols on an active bet line. Normally the hero is the bonus symbol. If it is a King Arthur theme then Arthur himself is on the bonus symbol. If it is a Lucky Dragon theme then the Big Lizard is smiling up from the bonus symbol at you. So you can always expect the bonus symbol to activate the game. This is where the name interactive BONUS feature is taken from. Another thing that all bonus features share in common is the value of the prizes. No matter if the prize is won behind a chosen curtain or if it is won racing around a track, the amount of the wins are going to be in proportion to your wager size going into the bonus game. So this is one good thing to remember as you are playing. If you feel a bonus game is due to appear, increase your wager.

So how are these interactive bonus games different from one another? I could write a book on this subject. But to just go over two basic things will be very informative. You have different themes and different types of interactive bonus feature slot games. Themes act as clothing does. They set a mood rather than function. They can be Outer Space, Underwater, Fairy Tales, Bank Robberies, Westerns etc. The list is endless. Many of these themes incorporate new archetypes that have emerged in our modern culture recently. The hero space traveler is a modern archetype. The international undercover agent is another. A brand spanking new archetype would be an online hacker. But I have not seen him appear on the slot game theme list as yet thank goodness. It is always interesting to me to see new models of human personalities emerging into our culture are represented in online gambling sites.

Beside all slot differing in their "clothing", functions of the slots can be very different. A horse race or any kind of race would be one type of structure for a slot game. A "What is Behind The Curtain" where they ask you to choose, is another. Personally I gamble on something gory and bloody. One of my favorites is opening up vampire coffins and driving a stake right through their heart is always exciting for me. The graphics nowadays can be quite real. The spurting blood always seems to get me going. I am not sure if I should have admitted that but there it is.

So no matter how you are feeling at the moment, there is always going to be just the right type and theme of slot to fit your mood. You just need to know at which online gambling casino they are. If you have a Mac computer you will need to find Mac compatible slot games. These are found at Flash casinos. Flash casinos offer no download slot games to their clients. These can be identified by doing a Goggle search for Mac compatible no download slot games. Happy slotting!

Graduate Talent Pool â Savvy Approaches to Challenging Conditions

In an attempt to combat the problem, the Government has launched The Graduate Talent Pool, an initiative to push the benefits of taking a graduate on to UK employers.

The Graduate Talent Pool isn't the only good news. Chantél du Plooy takes a look at the current opportunities available to graduates and talks to a successful recent graduate for advice on how university leavers can broaden their horizons.

The Real Statistics

Due to the down turn in the economy, job losses across the market are not uncommon. The recession has affected young and old; skilled and inexperienced; blue and white collar workers alike.

Not only are new graduates fighting for the best graduate jobs in the market, but they are also battling for places on fewer graduate schemes than in previous years.
According to the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), graduate unemployment has risen by a third in the past two years.
Although it seems like most companies are cutting back on their graduate schemes, there are still organisations recruiting grads.

A recent survey done by the Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) revealed that 32.9% of employers plan to increase their target intake of graduates.

Companies offering graduate jobs

Some of the companies who will take on graduates include BT and Lloyd's.

BT, the telecoms and broadband giant, currently employ more than 100,000 staff members and have set aside 130 jobs for university leavers.

Insurance firm Lloyd's is currently in the process of recruiting additional graduates for 2010.

The public and voluntary sectors have also increased recruitment opportunities, with the government offering 5,000 internships.

An interesting trend of late is an array of graduate job prospects within retail.

Supermarkets such as Tesco and Aldi have opened up extremely lucrative management positions for graduates. These positions are made even more attractive by great starting salaries, rapid career advancement and company benefits.

Opting for a job outside your field of study should not be ruled out. It needs to be regarded as an opportunity to grow, learn and excel.

Knowing your options

A post-graduate desperate to work and pay-off his student loan found himself a job as a result of proactive and innovative idea. David Rowe, a 24-year old history graduate dressed in a suit and walked in the Fleet Street area advertising his CV on a sandwich board.

His initiative secured him a job at a recruitment agency that was impressed by his innovation.

Measures like this, as innovative as it might be, aren't for everyone and might not work every time. However, David is commended, and on this occasion rewarded, for his effort.

There are other options available that include a postgraduate degree, working for free to gain experience or starting your own business.

David Bird, senior lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University, told the Guardian: "People are starting to look at what things are going to be like on the other side of this crisis and where the opportunities will be."

"An undergraduate qualification gets you on to the first step, while a postgraduate one can get you to the next stage."

Offering your services for free at a company is an excellent foot in the door for you at no cost to the company. However, there are legal issues around this so make sure you do your research before hand.

The most pioneering of all of the above mentioned options would be to create your own company.

According to Dan Hawes, co-founder of the Graduate Recruitment Bureau (GRB), the government is keen to support graduates with entrepreneurial talent but warned: "The business environment at this time is very challenging so graduates will need to consider the financial risk and their minimal business know-how, but with a good idea and plenty of hard work they will succeed," he said.

Knowing where to look

With multiple options made available to graduates, the real trick lies in knowing where to find them and then selecting the one most appropriate to your situation.

Previously graduate recruiters came looking for talented graduates, seeking to pluck them right out of University. Unfortunately, the annual milkround is less popular than it has been in the past.

An example of this is BT, who has been regular milkround participants in recent years. However, Caroline Waters BT Group director told People Management that the company won't be taking part this year, opting to focus on other areas such as online recruitment.

The internet is the place to look, starting with the Graduate Talent Pool.

The Graduate Talent Pool is an effective tool for graduates and employers alike. The site acts as an internship matchmaker between graduate employers posting vacancies and graduates who fulfil their specific criteria.

The site also supplies graduates with practical advice on how to improve their employability through internships, postgraduate study programmes or volunteering.

As an intern, it is important that you contribute towards the company. It is also important that your graduate job provides you with the work experience you need.

Making the best from your graduate position

Emma Cuffaro (25) from Essex completed a BA Honours degree in Business Administration and joined Broadbean Technology in 2005 in a graduate position.

"Early on my role incorporated most of the jobs that no one else had time to do. These included arranging meetings, making tea, ordering stationery and whole lot of filing. I made it my aim to quickly gain an in depth understanding of our products and the industry," she said.

Her positive attitude towards the business got her noticed and promoted to Sales Support Administrator fairly quickly. She then advanced to an Account Manager position and was made Head of Client Services at the age of 23.

Last year Emma won the award for Outstanding Young Person at the Thames Gateway Business Awards.

"The award was for my progression within the company, the achievements I made along the way and changes that I have since implemented within the company.

"All of my achievements would not have been possible without the strong team working behind me."
Emma's advice:

If you have already found an internship or graduate job it is advisable that you do everything in your power to make it count. Keep the following in mind to make the best out of your new found path:

1. Make a good impression: Never be late, always dress and act the part

2. Always try to do better: There is always something you could have done better (could be something really small), acknowledge this and remember for next time

3. Keep learning: You will never know everything so keep learning all the time, be ahead of everyone else

4. Be heard: Don't keep quiet, if you have an opinion express your thoughts and don't worry about getting it wrong. As long as you do this in the right way managers will see this as a positive quality.

5. Believe in what you do: This makes it easy to come to work every day and do your job brilliantly. If you believe in what you do passion, ambition and motivation will come naturally.

How Can I Market My Online Business?

Whether you are selling a product or attempting to market a service one thing that is quickly becoming necessary in the world of internet marketing is the use of videos. Video marketing allows you to describe products, show quality, workmanship and how to use the products in a way that is engaging to the customer. Many people are still hesitant to purchase products online because they cannot test or gauge the product online the same way they can in the store. Videos bridge the gap and help to give customers a peace of mind.

Email marketing is often used as a way to market businesses. It is inexpensive and you can reach a large number of customers quickly with promotions and deals that can encourage them to act. For example, you can include promotions designed to have current customers refer new customers, have customers who have visited but not purchased anything, visit again or simply offer a discount to encourage paying customers to return.

Social networking has also become one of the fastest and easiest ways to market your online business. Social networks allow you to reach hundreds or even thousands of potential customers within minutes. This is because not only are you building a list of your own potential customers but also you have the opportunity to access their friend's lists and so forth. This creates the perfect environment for viral marketing and for internet marketing.

A single marketing method such as video or email is not going to be enough to market your online business successfully. A combination of these factors needs to be employed in order to ensure your marketing campaign achieves the very best results for your company. Plus you may want to look into some of the newest platforms available to your; for example mobile technology is now providing new ways for businesses to market via phones, PDAs and SMS.

Marketing your online business starts with research. This research should include the market, the competition, and marketing techniques. Consider various combinations and above all do not be afraid to experiment with marketing techniques and combinations. Keep a record of all the combination and the results. These results should include not just the combination as a whole but each individual marketing technique used.

Finally, combine the best resulting techniques from each combination, for each of the target markets, if there are more than one that you have. You will find that this is an excellent way to market your online business and discover what is going to work best for your product or service.

Not all companies are the same. It is important to match your marketing technique and strategies with your market in order to ensure the success of your online business.

Waterproof Steel Toe Boots; How Good Are These Boots?

If these questions were to be asked at a professional who is good in buying endurance timberland pro steel toe boots for his work or adventurous outdoor activities, he would probably agree to it, as being waterproof is essentially one of the few crucial elements in a good pair of endurance shoes or boots; other factors being durability, comfort, protection level, price, and many more. If you're working on soft and wet grounds, and not looking for those 'Croc'-type shoes, probably the best would be an endurance or composite shoes and boots, apart from the conventional waterproof boots. The steel toe is an added advantage, but these days, more inclination is given to this factor as a determinant as well; for a good pair of waterproof boot must also be strong enough to withstand any strong impact in similar conditions, or extreme pressure for long hours without damaging your feet or toes in general. In simple technicality terms, the said waterproof steel toe shoes and boots are made from waterproof leather and waterproof membrane, which automatically tells you of their distinct nature.

Most timber land pro waterproof steel toe boots are made along superior fit quality standards, not allowing even the least amount of moist into the interior, which unquestionably keeps your feet warm and dry all day long at work or outdoors generally. If you used to have problems standing on wet grounds for long, fret not anymore, as most of these waterproof steel toe shoes also come with anti-fatigue technology that is designed to provide all-day standing comfort and support on any type of ground, in fact. This same technology also provides for shock absorption and higher energy return to withstand extreme impact given from the front and bottom, directly ensuring the safety and protection of your feet and toes altogether.

Almost any timberland pro waterproof steel toe boot and shoe found online would meet the most basic requirements, with extra added features to ensure longevity of the shoes likewise. In that sense, modern waterproof steel toe shoe and boot makers are not only concerned about the quality and safety of the shoes, but also on the economic factor of their buyers. Generally as well, such shoes are not found beyond $200, and with good deals online, you might even get an extremely well-designed-and-built pair of boots for just above $100. Most of these shoes are also protective against punctures and bacterial ingress; apart from having antimicrobial treatment as a default feature in these shoes which are normally worn for many long hours throughout the day. With increased wear protection and guarantee of grip, your overall safety is still considered for wherever you are.

The new MacBook Air embodies Apple's continuing environmental progress with its aluminum enclosure, a material highly desired by recyclers; Apple's first mercury-free LCD display with arsenic-free glass; and brominated flame retardant-free material for the majority of circuit boards as well as PVC-free internal cables. In addition, MacBook Air consumes the least amount of power of any Mac, and its retail box, made primarily from 100 percent post-consumer recycled material, is 56 percent smaller by volume than the previously smallest MacBook packaging.

Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital media revolution with its iPod portable music and video players and iTunes online store, and has entered the mobile phone market with its revolutionary iPhone. What can we say, we love you Apple! Keep'em comin'.

Which Printer is Better, An Inkjet or Laser?

Cost of acquisition is the major hurdle in buying a laser printer, though even that is dwindling. Many 'business inkjets' can be had for a small sum - laser printers are traditionally about 50% more expensive. However, this is about the only advantage that inkjets have. The most expensive laser printers can be very expensive indeed, but they're designed for high volume printing. A lot of publishing companies are now buying high end laser printers and using them as internal printing plants.

The reason why that makes sense is because of the second differentiator. Cost per printed page. Inkjet cartridges both cost more than toner cartridges, and produce far fewer pages per refill. A typical laser printer cartridge for a desktop printer is good for about 4,000 pages. A typical ink cartridge is good for about 200 pages, a factor of twenty difference. You can get around this with remanufactured cartridges, but the remanufactured toner cartridges last longer still. When comparing the cost per print, an inkjet can be more than twenty to thirty times as expensive per page produced. Over the life of the printer, that can add up considerably.

Colour reproduction is the undisputed area where inkjet printers hold the advantage, but that margin is getting thinner every year and new product release cycle. This is because good inkjets can use photographic grade inks, and can use multiple ink solutions to get a richer span of colors. They may also use archival quality inks, which will stand fast against fading. Because of this advantage, most high end inkjet printers are used for graphic artists and quick reproduction shops, and the cost of the consumables is built into the final product.

The last area of differentiation between laser and inkjet printers is printing speed. Lasers are faster, and due to mechanical advantages will likely remain so; they don't have to worry about over saturating the page with ink and turning the paper into mush. Because of this advantage in speed, laser printers are the dominant technology in small businesses. Laser printers are also likelier to have deeper paper drawers (because they're left to run without monitoring) and attachments like hole puncher and saddle stitch binders. That said, in many cases, rather than buying the fastest laser printer, you may be better off buying two of the previous year's model - it gives you double the printing speed and the ability to run two different print jobs at once.

When looking at 'which is better', the question comes down to 'how much can you spend initially' and 'is spending more money now on a laser going to pay for itself in reduced consumable costs in the next six to eight months? Look at your needs and choose accordingly.

Artificial grass, astroturf, the benefits and drawbacks
The benefits of replacing a natural lawn with a synthetic surface are really endless. There are many frequently asked questions. A perfect lawn is hard to achieve even with near perfect conditions. Many attributes contribute to an imperfect lawn to name a few are; poor drainage, insufficient sun light, heavy foot traffic, pets and worm cast are just a few. Artificial grass truly is the answer to many committed and not so committed lawn lovers. Installing an artificial lawn can be carried out by a professional installer, qualified landscaper or a keen do it yourself enthusiast. The link will take you to a pictorial step by step method commonly employed. Installing artificial grass.

Reasons for the consideration are;

No more watering!
No more worm casts!
No more weeds!
No more worn or soil patches!
No more muddy feet!
No more scorching from the sun!
No more yellow patches left from the pets!
No more grass cuttings!
No more chemicals!
No more hard work maintaining!
More time on the lawn enjoying it!
An all year-round lush green lawn!

The new generation of fake or false grass products is the "3G" or third generation. New technology and yarns have superseded the illumines green carpet of old. Artificial grass often generically called Astroturf by the general public has been developed in an array of styles. Colour, density and length are the main differences between these products but all are made with the same fine yarns and quality in product and manufacture are equal.

It has to be said though that there are drawbacks from having an artificial grass surface installed, but I will give my counterstatement against these as I do believe they are just.

Worms won't live under the surface.
This will deprive our native birds of their morning feast of lawn worms I agree, but it won't stop them from visiting the lawn borders especially if there is mulch for them to search for insects. I love to see Blackbirds and Thrushes searching for worms so I have invested in a wormery or Vermicompost

More expensive than maintaining a natural lawn.
Yes I agree but over the lifetime of the surface the quality of time gained from not having to maintain the lawn is priceless and for me time has a greater value than cost.

Does heat up in very hot weather. I agree, but only with extreme conditions and direct sunlight. Sandals or flip-flops is the obvious answer just as one would were on a sunny beach.

Only has a life expectancy of 15/20 years.
Yes I agree. I expect to last around the same time and by then I wont be concerned about replacing it. If I move home I can always take it with me.
